How to get the most out of playtime
1. Start slow. Let your cat stalk before you move the toy. Slow, unpredictable movement feels like prey.
2. Let them win. Every few minutes, let your cat catch the toy or the dot. Play without a catch can feel frustrating.
3. End with a reward. Finish with a real toy or a small treat, then put the toy away. Rotating toys keeps them exciting.
Safety note: Always supervise play. Never shine a laser in your cat's eyes. Remove damaged toys immediately.
By chance, my family bought a bunch of these cat toys for my picky cat when he was a kitten. Now that I’m moved out and finding new toys for him, I can’t help but notice that every single one has been a miss aside from this cat scratching post toy and one other that is basically pure catnip. My cat spends a lot of time with this cat mouse toy every day, playing non-stop. I'm so glad this cat toy is getting his likes.
Our cats enjoy this interactive toy. They will often initiate play with it themselves many times throughout the week. The "scratch pad" on top is just a thin piece of felt. Nothing fancy there. So far, it's been durable. I like the simplicity of this toy and it has the feature where cats can't stand when they see something go around a corner. Worth a try if you’re in the market for a toy like this.
